Construction of CAS Surface for Golf Cart

Construction of CAS Surface for Golf Cart

(Exterior A-level curved surface standard)

For the exterior components such as the body, front face, side wings, and roof of a golf cart, the commonly used CAS modeling surface (conceptual A-level surface) in the automotive industry is used to construct the process. Taking Rhino, a mainstream industrial design modeling software, as an example. It is also suitable for mainstream modeling software such as UG/NX and CATIA.

The CAS A surface of the golf cart must meet the requirements of smooth and continuous curved surfaces, no wrinkles or hard edges, reasonable partitioning, uniform appearance texture, and can be directly refined through engineering in the later stage. At the same time, it must adhere to the appearance design logic of lightweight streamline and simple slow-moving aesthetics of the golf cart. Below is an introduction to zebra crossing analysis in Rhino:

1.Find the “Analysis” or “Tools” menu in the toolbar and select “Zebra Pattern”. Or find the zebra crossing analysis tool icon in the toolbar.

2.Zebra Crossing Analysis Command Parameter Bar:

3.How to analyze the continuity of a surface through zebra crossings:

Zebra stripe smooth and continuous: indicates good surface transition (such as G1 tangent continuity or G2 curvature continuity).

Zebra stripes with breakage, mutation, or distortion: indicates the presence of surface discontinuity (continuous at G0 position) or curvature mutation at that location, requiring repair.

Uniform stripe spacing: indicates that the curvature of the surface changes smoothly; If the local stripes are dense or sparse, it represents a drastic change in curvature.

Side CAS core acceptance criteria: The curved zebra crossing is uniform without shaking, the high gloss streamline is smooth, the curvature is not abrupt, the curved surface is free of narrow and broken surfaces, and the joints are continuous and consistent, meeting the production requirements of spray coating, vacuum forming, and injection molding appearance parts.
